Today's Everyday Fashion: Blue Stripe Dress

Inspiration: Lord & Taylor

I hunted and hunted for the perfect light blue stripe dress this year, and this is definitely the "one" for me! Dresses with full skirts often hit much higher (right under the bust) which doesn't work as well on my shape, so I really appreciate how this one hits lower (under the belly button). That little detail coupled with pockets and the perfect faded periwinkle color of the stripes sealed the deal. I paired it with bubble gum pink accessories thanks to my inspiration photo, making it an outfit I can't wait to wear for an upcoming work event and baby shower this summer!

Dress: Limited, $65
Shoes: JustFab c/o, $39 (similar below)
Purse: Vince Camuto c/o Off 5th, $70
Earrings: Kendra Scott c/o Amazon, $36

Today's Everyday Fashion: Lemon Sweater x 2

Inspiration: DailyMail

There's something so preppy and sweet about fruit prints! I prefer a sweater fabric over a polyester-type blouse, and I chose this lemon version because it's lightweight enough to wear in Florida. I first thought to pair it with high waist gingham shorts. (If shorts aren't your thing, try a printed pencil skirt or trousers for the same effect.) I was also inspired to pair it with jeans, thanks to Reese Witherspoon's adorable outfit. (I will throw a neavy blazer over my look like hers when it cools off.) Would you wear a fruit print sweater?

Today's Everyday Fashion: Dalmatian Print

Inspiration: Style du Monde via WhoWhatWear

The styling possibilities with a black and white print skirt are endless! So far I've styled this skirt with cobalt blue, and was inspired by a magazine photo to try it today with a pastel color. Since the top is so subdued, I felt like it was the perfect opportunity for mixing two Dalmatian-type prints and wear these lace up heels as well. My items are older and available in limited sizes, so check out some more under $100 options below!

Today's Everyday Fashion: Turquoise and Red

This off-shoulder top is the most amazing neon red color! My first instinct was to pair it with turquoise accents because it's one of my favorite color combos. I ditched my usual white jean shorts for something different though - wide leg cropped pants. I have been searching for more ways to wear these sandals and I love the laid-back vacation vibe they create with the pants. I'm ready to jet off to a tropical destination in this outfit, stat!

Black Friday in July with Macy's

Macy’s is having the best sale right now! Dubbed "Black Friday in July," use coupon code BFJULY to take an additional 25% off, plus free shipping over $50 between 7/13-7/17 (restrictions apply). I teamed up with them to share a few favorites today. I picked three dresses plus accessories for this post, plus I used my own budget to purchase a couple items I’ll share tomorrow.

Let's talk about these purple heels by Jessica Simpson first because they go with everything!! The color is really vibrant in person and the heel is low enough to wear for hours on end. The fruit-print clutch by INC is way too much fun! It’s a perfect match with the purple shoes and I paired it with 2 out of 3 of the dresses.

The yellow Calvin Klein dress is a scuba material and has a great fit. The neon CeCe dress is a matte fabric and very vibrant in person, the colors are amazing. Last but not least the Charter Club gingham dress is probably my favorite – I love a shirtdress and anything gingham right now.

More picks below and head to Macy’s to shop the sale! Which of the 3 dresses would you pick?

Today's Everyday Fashion: The White Shirtdress

Inspiration: J.Crew

Even though the catalog photo is technically a swim cover up, I thought why not try it with a white dress? I paired my shirtdress with an inexpensive woven belt, Panama hat and straw purse to achieve a similar look. The striped poncho was a fun addition both for aesthetics and in the event you want covered arms or another layer. I will definitely be using this outfit for a travel day or another casual occasion soon. Would you wear today's look?

The Look for Less with Ever-Pretty

If you are on the hunt for affordable evening, wedding guest or bridesmaid dresses, then you’ve got to check out Ever-Pretty! With hundreds of options in the $15-75 range, and great shipping/return policies, it’s the ultimate resource for formal dresses. Today’s post features five dresses I tried on and my honest review, plus use coupon code jseverydayfash to take 35% off your order, including sale items through 7/31!

I chose the first dress (above) because I love the one Kate Middleton wore! This blue floral pattern is similar, and it has a brocade texture that makes it look expensive. It came out of the package completely wrinkle free, and did I mention it’s only $34.99??

The next two long dresses (below) are perfect for a bridesmaid or wedding guest and go for only $45-75. (So much better than the usual $250 you wind up paying for similar bridesmaid dresses!) And in the last photo, the red floral midi dress is on sale for only $14.99.

Sizing overall for Ever-Pretty is similar to European sizing. Their smallest size 04 is comparable to a size 0, size 06 equals 2 and so on, up to size 16 equals 12 for most dresses. I’m 5’7” so I was a bit too tall for the long dresses, but the midi and short dresses fit great. If you are looking for affordable dresses then Ever-Pretty is definitely on my list of recommended places to shop!

Head to Ever-Pretty to shop more dresses, enter their fun contest to win $500, and tell me – which of the 5 dresses in today's post is your favorite?

Today's Everyday Fashion: When You Just Can't

Inspiration: Gap

Sometimes getting dressed is the absolute last thing I want to think about. This week included one beautiful life gained, and one beautiful life lost, and over the weekend I just could really care less about what I was wearing! I was thankful for this super easy outfit to throw on for a BBQ, from photos we snapped last week. Flat sandals wound up being more practical for the occasion, but I do like the way the inspiration photo is rocking wedges. This was my plaid Thanksgiving shirt and I never would've thought to wear it during summer. It was a fun break from all the neon colors I gravitate towards in the hot months. Hopefully it's an easy outfit idea you can use, plus easy shoes that go with anything below... for those days when you simply just can't.

Today's Everyday Fashion: The Magical LBD

If given the choice I will pick neon, jewel tones or something with a pattern... pretty much anything besides black! The cut out "cold shoulder" shape on this LBD completely won me over though, and I decided to order it with a store credit on a whim. I also don't usually go for anything body hugging, but I think this dress has some kind of magical Spanx sewn into it. Because I feel like a million bucks! That to me is totally worth $160 bucks. (Or $120 if you buy it at Nordstrom.) Do you wear a lot of LBDs? I know some women swear by them!

Today's Everyday Fashion: Orange and Blue

Inspiration: Polyvore Email (Tasnime-Ben

A Polyvore email gave me the idea to pair this old orange skirt with cobalt and from there I added fun accessories. Statement necklaces were a "trend" many years ago but they clearly also have some serious staying power! I like to think of them as interchangeable embellishment for your shirts, and love them for the ability to add another layer of color to an outfit. I rounded up a bunch of options below. Do you wear bold, colorful necklaces or do you prefer delicate, subdued jewelry?

Today's Everyday Fashion: Formally Informal

Inspiration: Imaxtree via Whowhatwear

This top has all my favorite things rolled into one package: stripes, peplum and a bow tie! It's a spunky juxtaposition between casual and formal, with the tank top shape and formal bow tie, and bears a striking resemblance to a (much pricier) runway look. You could wear it under a black blazer for work, or check out some other work-appropriate options below. Would you wear this top?

Today's Everyday Fashion: Endless Summer

We snapped these colorful photos during our Florida road trip a couple weeks ago. It's one of my favorite outfits, I've already repeated it a handful of times. If I could I'd choose an endless summer I would - colorful prints, tassels, tan, natural crunchy hair and barely any makeup on. Endless summer would be my choice for sure! What's your favorite season and why?

Today's Everyday Fashion: 4th of July Style

Inspiration: Elle.com

It's time for my favorite holiday! Independence Day is right around the corner, and I've got plans to wear the outfit above for fireworks in the park. It's pretty similar to last year's outfit but red striped shorts couldn't be more perfect for July 4th and I love this blue ruffled top with them. Check more inspiration below and in this recap post from 2014. Monday is a holiday so I'll see you back here on Tuesday! Have a great weekend! - J.

Today's Everyday Fashion: Striped Pants for Days

Inspiration: Neiman Marcus

Striped pants are everywhere lately! And while I don't always try new trends, this one gets two thumbs up for being (potentially) work appropriate. My only issue with these pants is the fit. I tried them on in the store first. They only had a size 0, so I ordered the next size up online. When the pants arrived they were not the right size (outside tag said 2, inside tag said 16), and by that point they no longer had the 2. So they sent me the 4P (petite, pictured), but I feel like Goldilocks because I'm still not happy with the fit. Thankfully there are plenty of options on a budget to choose from below, and I'm going to keep checking online to see if they restock. Would you wear this trend?

Update: they restocked my size and I ordered them, yay!

The Best Brands on a Budget with Saks OFF 5TH

When it comes to shopping, my strategy is to find good deals on brands that I love. And Saks OFF 5TH is one of my favorite resources for doing just that! Sometimes I travel to the OFF 5TH store at the outlets here in Orlando, but usually I stick to the ease of browsing their huge website with tons of designer deals to save up to 70% off. For today’s post, I put together three head-to-toe looks from the OFF 5TH website, and every item is under $70!

It’s tough to pick a favorite but the first look with the off-shoulder Amanda Uprichard dress slays me! Between the colorful print, and the easy off-shoulder style, I am totally in love with this dress. Accessorizing with hot pink and turquoise is my go-to, so this Vince Camuto pink crossbody and Saks Fifth Avenue turquoise pendant are the perfect add-ons.

My next look is party perfection, with a polka dot Keepsake dress and the cutest earrings for only $12! The Cara earrings have a pearl in the front and a black pom pom ear jacket on the back. And the sleek suede Saks Fifth Avenue block heels are (in my opinion) the perfect black dress shoe – comfortable and they go with everything.

My third and final look is a striped dress by Collective Concepts. I ordered cap toe espadrilles by French Connection to give it a casual, day-of-sightseeing vibe. I also added the Jules Smith agate pendant necklace and a San Diego Hat Co. belted fedora to accessorize. (And the gray Marc Jacobs purse is one of my favorite personal scores from OFF 5TH last year!) It’s a preppy casual look that’s both cute and comfortable.

Which outfit is your favorite??

Today's Everyday Fashion: Pretty Neutrals

I have a serious thing for wearing heaps and heaps of color, all at once. I like rainbows and I like flashy. But I'm also a total sucker for pretty neutrals - cream, ivory, white, nude, beige, and gold. It's how I wound up with nude heels with gold details, and then a matching purse 3 years later. And also this skirt with a nude layer underneath that shows through, another recurring theme you'll find in my closet. I couldn't pick a favorite between super colorful and pretty neutrals if I tried. Which one would you choose?

Today's Everyday Fashion: Pom Poms

I think this will forever be known as the summer of pom poms and tassels, and I can't complain. I wore a little of both in this outfit during our trip to Amelia Island last week - pompoms on my sandals and tassels on my earrings to accessorize a cute crisscross strap turquoise dress! I wore it as pictured for lunch on the beach with my love (picture below), and I also wore the dress again later as a swim coverup. Summer, bright colors, sand between my toes - I'm a happy girl this time of year!! Do you like the pom pom and tassel trends this summer?

Today's Everyday Fashion: Ritz Carlton Amelia Island

During our trip to Amelia Island last week we set aside a day to relax at the most luxurious place we could think of - the Ritz Carlton. After lunch at Coast, we snapped photos of my outfit (above). I love the textured details on this dress, and the darker layer underneath makes the off-white pattern really pop. It's a breezy, loose fit but also has plenty of structure and isn't clingy, so it was great for the 100+ degree weather. After photos we changed into our swim suits to enjoy the pool and spa, more photos below. (The last one was JJ's creative idea to put the camera on a tripod and go behind a waterfall in the spa area!) What's your ideal way to relax and unwind?

Today's Everyday Fashion: Full Skirts and Turtlenecks

Inspiration: Vanessa Jackman via WhowhatWear

I just love the idea of pairing a voluminous skirt with a sleek little turtleneck. Taking a cue from my inspiration photo, I ordered this sleeveless top for $10 so I could pair it with a polka dot skirt from last year. I didn't realize a little skin was showing at times until I reviewed the photos (whoopsie!), but I love the overall look and feel of the end result.  It's both comfortable but polished, and proper but flirty. Would you wear this outfit idea?

Wear it for: Backyard BBQ

Summer has officially arrived! And what better way to celebrate than with some fun outfits from Kohl’s?! Whether it’s a BBQ, brunch date, hot summer nights, or July 4th – Kohl’s truly has something for everyone, and on every budget.

I shopped the Kohl’s website to put together 4 outfits for different summer occasions. 1. My first look features peach scalloped shorts from Lauren Conrad’s line, paired with a purse and cat-eye sunglasses from Kohl’s. I love how trendy and fun this look is! 2. The next look is a scuba material dress that’s on clearance from the REED line and some amazing block heel lace ups, paired with pops of blue - a great little dressy outfit for summer. 3. My third look is a preppy outfit created around a plaid shirt that was already in my shopping cart. I love the color scheme and the no-iron material, and it looks great with lightweight chambray shorts. 4. Last but not least, the hubs and I are sporting red, white and blue outfits (below), thanks to Kohl’s huge selection of July 4th clothes and accessories. I’m already counting down the days to the holiday weekend!
