Amelia Island is located just south of the Georgia border, on the east coast of Florida. With 13 miles of beaches, an adorable historic downtown area and endless activities, it's perfect as a romantic getaway, girls' weekend or a family vacation!

What to do:
1. Amelia Island River Cruise - We boarded a pontoon boat with Captain "Pajama Dave" at the helm, and set off for live music, BYOB, and amazing views of the sunset. We spotted wild horses, grazing deer, a historic fort and dolphins!
2. Ritz Carlton Amelia Island  - We hit up Coast for lunch, spent some time at the pool with live reggae music, and used day passes to lounge in the luxurious spa.
3. Kayak Amelia - Take a stand up paddle boarding or kayaking class or tour, and experience all the natural beauty of the Atlantic coast.
4. Fernandina Historic District - Tons of shops, restaurants, and historic homes to enjoy in one of the cutest downtown districts you've ever seen.
5. State Parks - Tour the Civil War era forts at Fort Clinch State Park, or visit one of the few remaining undeveloped barrier islands at Little Talbot State Park

What to eat/drink:
1. Timoti's Seafood Shak - Fast casual like you've never seen it, pictured above. Order at the counter and receive gourmet food at a great price.
2. Joe's 2nd Street Bistro - Take your significant other here on a date! Set in a historic home, Chef Ricky will spoil your tastebuds in a fine dining atmosphere. Our dinner was superb.
3. Moon River Pizza - Grab custom pizza by the slice, at this local hang out for a late-night snack.
4. Sandy Bottoms - Located right outside where we stayed (Seaside Amelia Inn), it features ocean views, yummy beach fare and a stage for live music.
5. Green Turtle - Where the locals hang out! We went on a Friday night and found live music, cold drinks and a great crowd. Also check out Palace - rumor has it that the mayor is a bartender there.

Where to stay:
Seaside Amelia Inn - It was our first time visiting Amelia Island, and we quickly discovered that this hotel is the ideal location. Situated right on the beach, you are steps away from bike and beach rentals, and fun in the sun. It's also a straight shot, about 2 miles inland, to the historic district. Breakfast, wifi, and parking are all included - we loved it.

Have you ever visited Amelia Island? What activities and restaurants do you recommend?

Disclosure: We were provided lodging and some experiences c/o Amelia Island. We were not asked to create or share a travel guide - these reviews, images, and opinions are solely our own.

Today's Everyday Fashion: Florida Roadtrip

Last week JJ and I hit the road for a romantic getaway and some fun in the sun. I wore this outfit for our travel day, and we snapped these photos during our first few moments of exploring downtown Amelia Island (aka Fernandina Beach). With the high temps (100+), even a breezy tank top and shorts did not stop me from sweating through my clothes in no time. Thank goodness for cute sandals to keep some part of my outfit looking cute when I'm melting. Pom pom sandals have been my #1 wish list item for summer and I'm so glad to finally add these to my closet. They are tough to find under $100, but I rounded up some additional options below!

The Ultimate Travel Wardrobe from VacayStyle

I love to travel but I hate the packing process! It’s something I always dread, which is why I’m so excited about the concept in today’s post: VacayStyle. They have designed gorgeous 5-piece collections that, when combined with just two essentials from your closet (a white tank and white jeans), create 12 outfits you can wear on your next trip.

I gave it a try on our recent trip to Amelia Island, and I honestly couldn’t believe how many outfits came from seemingly so few pieces! It took 5 minutes to pack, and everything fit into one little bag. (I clearly need to rethink my usual packing methods.)

VacayStyle manufactures in California with travel friendly fabrics, and each order comes with a helpful wardrobe card that illustrates the different outfits you can make with the collection. The quality, especially the beading on the white tunic and the beach bag, really impressed me.

Use exclusive code J20 for 20% off your order with VacayStyle through 6/30. When you buy 5 items (the entire collection, or mix and match from the 5 different collections), you get an additional 20% savings (no code needed), and you receive the VacayStyle beach bag, totally free!

Check out all 12 outfits I was able to make with The Belize Collection below, and head over to the VacayStyle website to see all the styles you can mix and match, like their convertible dresses and two piece maxis!

Which outfit is your favorite?

Today's Everyday Fashion: Inspired by Pinterest

Inspiration: via a Pinterest email

I was so excited when I spotted this outfit in an email from Pinterest. (I'm admittedly not on Pinterest often, but they send "suggested pins" emails when you have an account.) It's an adorable look; a mix of navy and blush pink is a great balance of feminine and preppy. And I already had similar items in my closet to make this outfit work. Anything blush pink and blue is a great combination to try for summer though - hopefully it's an idea that you can use too!

I went back and forth on this skirt so much that I missed the return date! I'm glad that I did, because I think it's a good basic, especially for the price (only $14 online, 2 months ago). I found this belt at the mall this weekend on sale for $5, and with a black shirt and sandals, it's the perfect match. I like the idea of doing a black off shoulder top like my inspiration photo, or a black sleeveless turtleneck. I may consider adding one of those basics to my closet as well! How would you wear today's look?

Today's Everyday Fashion: Mad for Plaid

It's not even summer yet, but the summer sales are already happening! There are two main seasons in retail (fall/winter and spring/summer) and when those seasons switch are the best times to get great deals. The end of June is usually one of those times, but the sales have come a little early this year. I found these plaid shorts at Ann Taylor for only $28 with no coupon this weekend and they are currently $30 online. I also couldn't resist this white ruffle collar shirt from H&M. The two paired together make a prim and proper outfit that's sure to beat the summer heat!

Today's Everyday Fashion: Color Equals Happy

Do you feel happier when you wear bright colors? Because I gotta say, it really puts some pep in my step. Today's look is all about one half of the color wheel (blue, green, yellow) and lots and lots of it. To tone it down, try a neutral shoe or purse or leave off the necklace. Or if you're more of an Iris Apfel ("more is more and less is bore") then pile it on. If color brightens the day and makes you feel happier, then why not?!

Money Saving Tips for Every Shopping Style

When it comes to shopping do you enjoy the thrill of the hunt and shopping for hours, or quick methods that require the least amount of shopping possible? Check out these profiles to see which you identify with most:

Shopping Style #1
-       I am most concerned about price. I have time in my schedule to dedicate to shopping and tracking down good deals. I am willing to dig, hunt, and search.
-       I am willing to spend less per item, around $10-50. I am concerned about quantity as well as quality. I have a long wish list and want to add lots of different options to my closet so that I have more possibilities to mix and match.
-       I mostly prefer to shop in person. I like to try the item on, see the fabric in person, and avoid shipping costs.

Shopping Style #2
-       I do not have very much time to dedicate to shopping, and sometimes I am willing to pay more, rather than spend more time hunting for a better price.
-       I will spend more for one item, around $150. My strategy is to buy fewer higher quality items. I already have most basics in my closet, so now I focus on keeping my closet streamlined.
-       I mostly prefer to shop online. I like being able to shop more items more quickly, save time and energy by shopping from home, and seeing how things look on someone rather than on a hanger.

You may already be able to guess, but my shopping style was all about #1 throughout my 20’s and up until a couple years ago. More recently, I’m all about shopping style #2. It’s not the same progression for everyone, and I could see going back to shopping style #1 someday. I don’t see anything wrong with either method and wouldn’t recommend one over the other, because different things work for different folks. That’s why I’m sharing money saving tips for both. They are very different approaches, so here my best tips for each!

Shopping Style #1 TIPS

1.   Mark your calendar.
Shop during the "seasonal switch" to get the best deals – right after Christmas everything is discounted to make way for spring clothes, and at the end of June everything is discounted to make way for fall clothes. There's still plenty of time to get good use out of the item before the seasons actually change and you'll save so much money if you concentrate on these two times of year!

Between those two times, stores have smaller retail cycles. Use clues like how long an item has been in the store and how many are left in your size to determine whether the price may go down. Keep coming back until you catch the item at the right time – ideally both a marked down price and a coupon for maximum savings.

2.     Negotiate.
Check prices on your phone to see whether they are lower online. Use the RetailMeNot app for coupons. Ask an employee what the promos are that day. If you qualify, ask for student or military discounts. And there's more wiggle room for negotiating than you may think, don’t be afraid to ask!

3.   Shop strategically.
Look all around the store and not just the sale rack for the best deals. Prices for the same item can vary by state, so shop for summer clothes in a colder climate and vice versa. Get to know the owner of locally owned stores for insider tips and special deals, and mall stores will often add you to a regional email list for alerts on special events and discounts.

4.     Be bargain store savvy.
Ask your local Ross or TJ Maxx when they get new shipments to determine the prime days for shopping. Shop multiple store locations to maximize your potential of finding a great deal. Know what you’re buying: Nordstrom Rack, for example, makes some clothes specifically for the Rack, but others (the "from our stores" sections) come from Nordstrom. Some brand name dresses are made with lesser quality specifically for stores like TJ Maxx. And J.Crew Factory and Banana Factory item are made specifically for the outlets. Which is not to say at all that you shouldn’t buy them at all! Just be savvy to determine the best deals.

5.     Consider credit cards, rewards, and eBates for extra savings.
Credit cards should be used with caution, only for the 1-2 stores you shop the most, so they don’t adversely affect your credit score. Say yes to free reward programs though, and check out eBates for online savings.

6.     Buy second hand.
Check out your local Goodwill, thrift shops, and consignment stores (or online sites like Poshmark and ThredUP) for huge savings that also benefit the environment.

7. Get creative.
Consign your old clothes and put those earnings towards to your clothing budget. Or take your love of fashion and turn it into a side job: work at your favorite retailer during the holidays, join a home party business like Stella & Dot, or look into secret shopper programs.

Shopping Style #2 TIPS

1.     Gather and save your favorite items online.
Use search engine ShopStyle to browse. Type in “pencil skirt” for example and narrow down the thousands of options by price, color, and brand. As you find things online, save them in shopping carts to revisit later. Or use the Favorites feature on ShopStyle.

2.     Monitor sales and prices.
Let the price stalking begin! Sign up for emails at your favorite stores to monitor coupons and sales. Pay attention to pricing patterns to gauge whether prices will drop further. Try checking how many are left in stock by adding quantities to your cart until it says sold out. Once the price is right, make your purchase. If there's no time to monitor prices, check RetailMeNot for coupons before you buy.

3.     Plan a day for returns.
Be strategic about online purchases so that if something doesn’t fit or look how you expected, then you can make all returns to the same mall and/or the post office on the same day.

4.     Make shopping in person quick.
Shop online before you go to the store to identify favorite items and go directly to them. (I also find it helpful to see it on someone vs. on a hanger.) Use the RetailMeNot app for in-store coupons.

5.     Mull it over for a bit.
When I’m shopping in person, I take pictures on my phone as I go. Then before I leave, I sit down and decide what I’m going to buy. I often leave the mall without buying anything (I only make returns). I wait until the next trip to purchase, or order online now that I've tried it on.

6.     Don’t count out super bargains.
Even though I don’t have tons of time to shop like I used to, I still like to take advantage of super bargains, like (a) when the seasons switch right after Christmas and prices are amazing, (b) budget stores that sell brand name items for a lot less like Ross and Saks Off Fifth. Sometimes, it’s fun to dig and spend a little more time to find the really amazing deals!

Today's Everyday Fashion: Breezy Dress and Wedges

It's already sweltering hot here in Orlando, so I couldn't wait to pull out this dress! It was one of my favorites last summer, and was at the top of my list to repeat. It's hard to look glamorous in the heat but this dress manages to be breezy yet cute thanks to the gorgeous trim and unique shape. I'm also rocking my new wedges here. I have been on the hunt for a subtle, neutral wedge for casual occasions like backyard barbecues, where you want a little heel but nothing too dressy. And...

Watch  /  Ring

One of the coolest parts of my job as a fashion journalist is getting to report on new and upcoming fashion brands and trends. Today I’ve partnered with BERING, a Danish company that’s hitting the U.S. in a big way with their refreshing designs in watches and jewelry. Inspired by the founder’s trip to the Arctic, and named after the Bering Straight, BERING has an aesthetic that’s smooth, clean and timeless. And as luxurious as they look and feel, they are surprisingly affordable, with most ranging from $100-250. (Plus use the coupon below!)

I picked out two watches to try for today’s post. The first one, above, is a white ceramic and gold watch with pave diamonds on the face. The matching ring actually comes apart – you unscrew the ring, and the bands inside can be switched out for different colors and designs. Mine has a pave band and a white band inserted to match the watch. When the ring is naked it says “Love” in cursive and is equally pretty on it’s own. You can buy it as a set, or as individual pieces.

The second watch, below, is a two-toned silver and gold watch from BERING’s Solar Collection. The band has a silver stainless steel mesh design and the watch face is gold tone with delicate details. The ring is the same design – a sterling silver middle wrapped in gold, and also comes apart like the wider ring pictured above.

I can honestly say that this brand impressed me. The quality is outstanding, and the designs feel fresh and new, but also classic and timeless.

Check out all BERING has to offer on their site, and use coupon code Be_J1 for 15% off through 6/22!

Today's Everyday Fashion: Favorite Blue x 2

Electric blue v-neck, white jeans, statement necklace
Electric blue tank, pink clutch, statement necklace

Electric blue tank, white jeans

This particular shade of blue is so nostalgic for me, quite possibly because it's the color of water. I was completely obsessed with swimming pools and the ocean as a kid (even though I had never seen it!). This outfit is so easy to throw on for dinner, and I might love it even more with a neon pink cardigan in the casual outfit below. I topped it off with two old statement necklaces that I like to wear layered together. Some similar options are below!

My Disclosure page (linked at the bottom of every post) was in major need of an update. It's shiny and new, and besides the required elements it also answers the question "how do bloggers make money?" because that's what I'm asked more than anything else. Check it out to stay informed about my policies and to satisfy your curiosity!

Today's outfit: What to wear with a perforated top? Pairing it with a similarly perforated skirt and shoes felt like a natural choice. I am not sure how I feel about this outfit yet (like many of the outfits I post, it's half the fun), although I certainly like all the pieces individually. How would you wear it?

There's something so incredibly satisfying about getting a good deal. I wore this blush pink off shoulder dress as pictured over the holiday weekend for a day at the lake. I love the color pairing of blush pink with the turquoise straw tote and fringe earrings. Making it even better is finding out that my dress cost a fraction of the pictured designer version, and several of the bags below are under $30, proving that you don't need to spend a fortune to get the style you love!

Today's Everyday Fashion: Alessandra's Button Down

Inspiration: Fameflynet via WhoWhatWear

I consider this button front shirt to be an absolute must-have in my closet. I had one for years before I upgraded to this one, but I didn't know if it would work to recreate Alessandra's look. Her shirt appears to be a lightweight softer fabric, while mine is a bit more structured. I was surprised how well it worked in this outfit though, and "good enough" is my preference if that means being able to use something I already own! Would you wear Alessandra's look?

Today's Everyday Fashion: Olivia Palermo Tie Sleeve Top

Inspiration: Robert Oneil/Splash News via Instyle

Olivia Palermo wore this outfit over the holiday weekend, and I'm totally geeking out to be wearing it just a few days after her. This white tie-sleeve off-shoulder shirt goes with just about anything, as do the sneakers, so pairing them together is a no-brainer. It's a true look for less because my top is only $37 and jeans are $30. (I saw this top at a department store recently, same manufacturer, and they were charging $59, mine is $20 cheaper!) I pretty much always love what Olivia is wearing - who is your favorite celebrity style icon?

Today's Everyday Fashion: Sailor Suit

Inspiration: Bloomingdale's

My shirt and pants certainly look like they were made for each other. An off-shoulder striped top has a definitive nautical vibe, and the "sailor" pants (the style name) carry the same connotation. Even without the "sailor" pants I love a striped top with ivory or white bottoms, like skinny jeans or linen shorts. As shown in the inspiration photo, the same outfit looks great with a darker striped top, too!

Top: H&M, $10
Pants: LOFT, $26

Today's Everyday Fashion: Memorial Day

Inspiration: J.Crew

It's Memorial Day here in the States, which is a national holiday to honor those who have died in military service. Most people have the day off so there will be a plethora of picnics and pool parties, so today's outfit is befitting the occasion. I've got quite a crush on pink gingham lately and was really excited wear this old shirt again. I love wearing it with a little knot on the end, and it works especially well with high waist shorts!

Top: J.Crew Factory, $41 (similar, similar, similar, similar)

Memorial Day also means great deals on adorable clothes, like 40% off everything at White Plum!! Use code SITEWIDE through Wednesday. Check out my favorites below - almost everything is under $50, and that's before the discount!

Today's Everyday Fashion: Double Dipping

Whether I wear my hair straight or curly is not always up to me. Sometimes I wake up and my hair decides "boom, we are going curly today!" I've been using this wand to give it more shape and enhance the natural wave. Today's outfit contains one of my favorite old skirts paired with a new top from Magnolia Boutique. The color of blue is so beyond perfect (and hard to find) and the top is double lined so it's a really nice quality. The finishing touch is the yellow necklace which is 40% off during the Memorial Day sale right now!

Top: Magnolia Boutique c/o, $29

PANDORA Jewelry Grand Opening at Disney Springs

On Saturday I partnered with PANDORA Jewelry for a very special event – the grand opening of their store in Disney Springs! The line was literally out the door to get inside and experience the special features like the selfie station (right photo below), and the mystery drawers where for every $150 spent you got to select a free prize to take home (left photo below).

I was dazzled by all the pretty charms and jewelry and had fun playing dress up with the Disney collection, and some of their hero pieces, which have a Disney princess theme. My favorite part of the day was the little girl who mistook me for a real Disney princess. The shape of my top has a Cinderella vibe, so I’m sure that had something to do with it! I absolutely loved wearing this outfit (the top is old but the skirt is new, from my collection) so I will be repeating it soon.

Thank you PANDORA Jewelry for a wonderful afternoon!

Today's Everyday Fashion: Internet Perks

Inspiration: Amazon Email (Top, Skirt)

There are plenty of pros and cons to social media and the internet but let's talk for a minute about one amazing perk - free outfit ideas. Like when you open an email and see a cute catalog photo, and within minutes have a new outfit from your closet using things you already own. I never would've put this striped crop top and floral skirt together if it hadn't been for the inspiration photo. It's cute but really bold and just not two items I'd ever imagine together. And since I took a picture of my outfit and shared it with you here, maybe you have something similar in your closet and can do it too. We'll just keep those free fashion ideas flowing all day long. Sometimes the internet rocks!
