This week's Flashback Friday is featuring one of my favorite items in my closet right now - the mustard cardigan! Who knew a cardigan this colorful could be so versatile? It's equally at home in a girlie look, an office look, and a winter look!

Occasion #1: Fancy date in a warm climate. Go totally girlie and wear head-to-toe pink!

Occasion #2: Fancy date in a cold climate. A classic red dress is the ultimate Valentine's Day outfit. Wear it with some tights, boots and a black jacket for added warmth!

Occasion #3: Work. Add a touch of pink with a silk blouse paired with work-appropriate neutrals.

Occasion #4: Classroom. Does your V-day involve hosting a classroom full of kiddos? Try a festive purple cardigan paired with denim and comfortable pumps.

Occasion #5: Not celebrating. You hate Valentine's Day and want to rebel. Show your wild side in leopard print and loud pants.

Today's Flashback Friday is going to blow your mind. Even I'm a bit shocked at how versatile black skinny jeans can be! They work with black shoes, brown shoes, gray shoes, nude shoes, leopard print, polka dots, denim shirts, gold sequins.... does it get any better than that? My other favorite thing about these jeans - you can hardly tell they are jeans. You could wear them to work and totally pull them off as dress pants. Go ahead, I won't tell. ;)

Check it out ladies... 17 ways to wear skinny cargo pants!! To be fair, these are actually two different pants. One is light khaki (top row) and the other is dark green (bottom row), but no matter what shade your cargos may be, any of these color combinations should work!

Styling tips: Shoes in all shapes and sizes work with these pants. Flat boots, lace-up boots, round pumps, pointy pumps, tie-up wedges. In colors like soft gray, cognac, black, dark brown, nude, and mustard yellow. Clearly the options are endless

This is one of my favorite belts (Banana Republic, $30), and yesterday's outfit made me curious to see what other ways I've worn it! Florals are a recurring theme, as is the color olive. I also tend to pair this belt with the same H&M sandals because the colors go together, but I also recommend branching out and trying a lighter brown shoe with belts like this.

Today's Flashback Friday features one of my favorite pieces of all time, the navy blazer, worn 14 different ways. This blazer taught me a valuable lesson that I will never forget. I spent $70 for it at the Gap three years ago because I loved the one I saw at J.Crew for $300. At the time, I had never spent more than $30 on a clothing item and the $70 price seemed outrageous. I'm still not sure what made me "splurge", but I quickly learned the value of spending a little more on something that you will love and wear over and over again. A closet full of $5-10 items will never feel quite right without a few high-quality staples such as a blazer like this to pull them together!

This camel skirt from J.Crew ($45) was an item I knew I wanted right away. I loved the color and texture and the comfort of an elastic waistband and pockets are hard to beat. One downfall: it can be tough to wear a ruched waistline like this. Shirts either have to be thick enough to cover the waistband entirely (look 6) or tucked in (the rest of the look). Beyond that, this skirt could not be more versatile. It can be dressed up with sequins or a blazer, and dressed down with flat boots or an oversized sweater and pretty much any color goes.

At first glance, there are a limited number of things you can wear with a patterned skirt (Limited, $30 from July 2010). I think most people's first instinct is to wear the most obvious solid color on top (in this case, black) and leave it at that. But a patterned skirt can be way more versatile than you think! I love the idea of pairing a black and ivory skirt with browns and olive, mustard and red, pops of turquoise or even an attempt at mixing prints (last photo).

Nude shoes are an awesome staple to have in your closet. They elongate your legs, and are perfect for those "what shoes am I going to wear?!" moments because they go with absolutely anything. I also love-lace up shoes, so I certainly couldn't pass on these nude lace-ups when I saw them last year.

I have always loved graphic tees. I wore them tons in high school, a lot in college, and then I stopped. I felt like they were to immature, so for awhile I didn't wear them at all.
