As promised, here's the second dress I ordered from my new "secret weapon" brand, GB. I literally squealed out loud when I tried it on. I love the thick, textured fabric, the rainbow colors, and the flutter sleeves! With the pink earrings and yellow pumps, it's pretty much my ideal outfit! (I'd sub in nude shoes if I didn't have these light yellow heels in my closet.) ps. If you liked the other GB dress from Monday, here's a tunic in the same print that's available in all sizes!

Sometimes I put together an outfit and a week later I already don't like it. (Does this ever happen to you?!) That was the case with this outfit a few weeks ago. I kept feeling like something was "off" with the ruffle chambray shirt. It continued to sit in my closet with the tags on, so I exchanged it for the embroidered top in today's post. (I also wound up buying the $10 shirt in the inspiration photo so I can still wear that outfit - I liked the overall look but not the ruffle top.) I wore today's outfit to dinner on Friday (the original plan was the county fair but unfortunately it rained). I love the embroidery, fringe trim, and the thick linen-type fabric on this top. I couldn't find it online, but gathered some similar options below. If something in your closet still has the tags after a couple weeks I recommend exchanging it, too - there's no reason to let something go to waste!

Today's 3/4 sleeve dress has a great 70's boho vibe, pockets, is fully lined and the material is great quality. What brands are your secret weapons? Please spill the beans!

Sweet Southern Style with Mud Pie

Sequin tunic  /  Pineapple bag

Monograms, seersucker, and beach-ready patterns: Mud Pie is the epitome of sweet southern style! I’ve partnered with them today to feature some amazing new arrivals for spring/summer. Everything is so easy to wear or throw in a suitcase, and prices are affordable, ranging from $20-70. Plus get free shipping until 4/6 with code JFREESHIP!

Whether you live in the south or are traveling to warm weather soon, there’s something for everyone in today’s post. Pictured above is a gorgeous, coral sequin trim tunic I threw over a swimsuit, and how cute is this pineapple beach bag?! It has a water resistant finish and vegan leather handles and is only $19.50. Check out that same coral sequin tunic again in the picture below, it works just as well with white jeans for a night out!

Seersucker dress  /  Similar clutch

This seersucker dress with ruffle collar slays me, it’s my favorite thing in Mud Pie’s spring/summer collection! It’s unfortunately sold out in blue, but pink is available here. And they have plenty of other seersucker items, like cute outfits for your little ones here, here, and here.

White shirt dress  /  Weekender bag

Nothing is more classic or elegant than a white shirt dress in the summer! This one from Mud Pie is a really nice thick linen, and not at all sheer. It runs large so size down if you can. I added my own brown belt, and this weekender bag with genuine leather details is so affordable at only $69.50 and available in most initials.

Navy dress  /  Beach hat

You first saw this look on the blog a couple weeks ago. The navy dress has thick material that’s more on the dressy side, with a gorgeous embroidered neckline detail, and the hat is so fun. It will certainly make a statement on the beach or at a Derby party!

Pink dress  /  Pineapple bag

This pink patterned dress has soft, stretchy cotton material with a drawstring waist. It’s more on the casual side so it could work as a swim cover up, or as a daytime dress. The pink pattern is so pretty and looks great with the embroidered neckline. And that’s the same adorable pineapple beach bag!

Ruffle collar shirt

Last but not least, another ruffle collar! This shirt comes in tons of different colors and patterns. I’d wear it with jeans, a pencil skirt or casual shorts in addition to the dressy outfit pictured here.

ps. Don’t miss Mud Pie’s warehouse sale coming soon! (Note: the sale will not include any of the current season or items pictured today’s post.) You can shop in person in Atlanta, as well as online!

Today's Everyday Fashion: Mara H Look Alike

I love, love, love Mara Hoffman dresses. So when I spotted this maxi on Instagram for only $57, I was dying to have it! I'm not always a fan of maxis, but the halter neck, front slit, and amazing Mara Hoffman-like print makes it one I know I'll wear often. I'll throw on a black leather jacket when it's chilly, and my new lace up heels are a perfect "match." I was nervous about finding ways to style these shoes (printed shoes are not always the easiest), but surprisingly they already work with lots of options in my closet. You'll be seeing them again soon!

This is a round up of things I've ordered recently! You've seen most of it on the blog already, but things just went on sale (30-50% off) so I just placed my order. You never know with online shopping until you try it on, but fingers crossed. Hopefully you'll be seeing outfits with these items very soon!

Below is an outfit we photographed almost three months ago. My outfit is the same shape as my inspiration, but the colors on mine are off. (I much prefer her monotone look, whereas mine has a lot of contrast.) I normally copy the colors and patterns of an outfit, so this was a rare case where the overall shape was the inspiration. Hopefully this is an outfit idea that you can still use (in whatever colors you prefer)!

The minute I spotted this dress in the H&M catalog I wanted to order it. Embroidered dresses and tops are a staple in my closet, and I liked the unusual details - dramatic pattern, drop waist, and blue fabric reminiscent of a preppy oxford shirt. When it arrived and I tried it on, though, I had to pause. If I went to Epcot wearing this, someone might think I work there! It ventures into costume territory a bit, which is tough. On one hand, I enjoy wearing unusual, eclectic things that may not appeal to everyone. But I also need to feel totally confident in that eclectic outfit (I don't want to be distracted by what I'm wearing and feeling less than confident, that's no fun). And so I'm torn at the moment. Giving myself a week or two to mull it over always seems to do the trick. I'll report back when I do my next budget post!

Today's Everyday Fashion: The Statement Purse

More often than not I buy neutral purses that will blend in with whatever I'm wearing. But this purse is the total opposite; it's like a work of art that you carry around on your arm. It sat in my cart for almost 2 months before I caved in and ordered it. It's so fun with the color blocking and feathers, but how practical is a statement purse, really? I often wear statement necklaces because the focus of your outfit is always visible (even when you're sitting at dinner, for example), but a purse is different because you don't always have it with you. Have you ever bought a statement purse? Did it wind up being worth the splurge?

Spring Has Arrived with HSN

Spring is officially here! We can shed our layers, free our toes and wear lots of bright colors, hooray! I’m celebrating all things spring fashion with HSN today –a great destination for all your favorite name-brand shoes, accessories and clothing.

I selected two outfits from HSN for today’s post. The first look (above) is a gray maxi by Lisa Kline, a festive tassel scarf by Betsey Johnson, and a leather braided belt. Tassels and braided belts are two of my top trends for spring, and this maxi dress is an awesome staple piece. I love the asymmetrical gather to the side that shows a little leg and the soft, cozy t-shirt material. I have a feeling I’ll be wearing the maxi a lot – to run errands, dressed up with wedges, or even around the house!

My next look (below) is super colorful! I chose a purple flared skirt by Serena Williams and bright yellow heels by BCBGeneration from the HSN website and completed the look with my own pieces. The purple skirt is a soft, slightly stretchy material that comes in 4 colors, and the heels come in 7 different colors and patterns. Even better - all the items I’m wearing in today’s post are under $70!

Check out more great finds from HSN on their website and below.

Today's Everyday Fashion: Cobalt and Dalmatian

It's a very specific combination - cobalt and Dalmatian - but it's one of my favorites! I have a Dalmatian print dress that has been well-loved over the years (last seen here), and I couldn't resist adding another Dalmatian item to my closet recently with this skirt. It doesn't have to be cobalt though - really any bright color would look great with this black and white print. I'm planning to try hot pink and orange next!

Orlando friends, please check out this fundraiser tomorrow evening! "Runway to Haiti - A Night of Ethical Fashion" is brought to you by the same sandal company that I visited in Haiti last year (here). It's such an awesome cause - I hope to see you there! Go here for details and to buy tickets.

I can't believe this shirt is only $10. I figured it was too good to be true, but couldn't resist including it in my online order just to see what it looked like in person. It's part of H&M's Conscious Collection (eco-friendly), the fabric is really pretty and soft, and overall I'm really happy with it. I wasn't able to find it online anymore, but I gathered some similar options for you below. I am loving all of the off-the-shoulder styles this season so much!

I took my own shopping recommendation from a recent post and ordered this skirt! It was a good call because the quality is awesome in person. Between the fringe along the bottom, the beading, and the fun pattern, it looks way more expensive than it is. I paired it with a black ruffle sleeve top and black peep toe booties that I already had, for a night out outfit I plan to wear soon!

Wedding Season Style with ModCloth

I’m so excited for today’s wedding style post with ModCloth! I love getting dressed up for weddings, and with the one-year anniversary of our own wedding quickly approaching, it was fun to revisit styles for brides, too.

My first look (above) is a gorgeous, floral dress with a big, poofy skirt. I would wear this dress to a wedding as a guest, as a creative bridesmaid dress, or to a bridal shower. It’s so pretty and ladylike and I plan to wear it for an upcoming event!

My second look (below) is for the ultimate boho bride. This crochet dress could work for a rehearsal dinner, bachelorette or even a casual wedding day. It's affordable at only $60 and a really nice quality in person. I paired it with a floral headband and we headed to a local park where people often get married. It was nostalgic thinking about being a bride this time last year!

When I first moved to Florida, I didn't know much about it and wasn't sure if I'd like it. Turns out, I'm Florida's biggest fan! Gorgeous spring weather is already in full effect and there's never a shortage of things to do, like joining our family on the coast for a boat trip. Our recent overnight stay inspired me to put this outfit together - a sneak peek of a bigger post coming soon. (We're at The Village Shops of Vero Beach in these pictures.) It's quintessential beach town look and perfect for southern living or vacationing!

I'm participating in a panel on spring trends at Neiman Marcus Tampa Bay this Saturday - and you are invited! This is my outfit for the event - they provided a gift card so that we could be appropriately outfitted in current Neiman Marcus. I picked three incredible pieces that I'm excited to add to my closet and plan to wear again and again. (I also used the 10% off coupon you get by signing up for emails!) Hot pink is my favorite color to wear, I've got a thing for nude shoes + the fringe is amazing, and these turquoise Kendra Scott earrings have been on my wish list for a couple years now. I'm excited for the event and I hope to see you there!

This outfit was created purely because of fit. I wanted another way to wear this striped crop top and these are the only black bottoms in my closet that are high-waisted enough to go with the top. I love culottes on other people (like Jessica Alba, who looks great here), but they can be hard to style. I do like that they feel like pajamas and it's fun to have something in a totally different shape than most of my slim-fitting pants and jeans! Would you wear culottes?

Pink blossoming tree - Tabebuia

These beautiful pink Tabebuia trees are in blossom all over our neighborhood right now. I'm completely obsessed and want to plant 20 of them in our yard. There's only one problem though: the blooms only appear for a few days and then they are gone. I had a moment of random inspiration and decided to write it down and share. Something to ponder as we head into spring:

Beautiful pink blossoms when you're in bloom
Here in a flash and gone so soon
Your temporary splendor is not defeating
It's here to remind us that beauty is fleeting

It's already too warm in Florida for this outfit, but I'm hoping the layers will resonate with anyone living in a cooler climate right now! I would never think to layer this colorful sweater with stripes, but it adds a quirky element that I really like. This look also contains my favorite type of jewelry - a turquoise pendant. If I was limited to just one item in my costume jewelry box, a turquoise pendant would be it. (More options under $100 below!) What jewelry item would be your top pick?

I recently attended a baby shower that had pink stripes on the walls. It looked a lot like the inspiration photo, which reminded me of the stripes on this old dress. I couldn't resist pulling it out of my closet and wearing it a new way. The black bannister and wall art inspired me to pair it with black and white stripes and a leather jacket. Would you wear today's double stripes look?
