Army green and blush pink is such a fun color combo and my inspiration does it perfectly. With the addition of an asymmetrical hem faux leather skirt and classic black pumps (first pair I've ever owned!), I am definitely finding a reason to wear this outfit once it warms up a bit!

Also, I'm so excited to share the creative project that's been taking over my life lately - decorating! I've never really decorated before, but with a little help (a local designer is providing some guidance) and a LOT of research, these are the mood boards I came up with for the two main living areas in the house. I was meticulous about finding items that were lower budget and for any items with a brand name, I advise Googling to find the best deals (it seems like prices change often, and I also found coupons on RetailMeNot). I hope to have the whole project completed by this summer and I promise to share photos when it's done. In the meantime, what are your top places and tips for affordable home decor?

Emerald top, chartreuse skirt, leopard flats

If I had to pick one style icon, it'd be Olivia Palermo, for her ability to mix prints with ease, pull off creative shoes and in general look eclectic yet put together all the time. I took the same ideas from her outfit - chartreuse, floral print, and leopard - and tried it with my closet. It turned out slightly similar to last year's outfit with this top (here). I think I'll substitute in dark denim with the same top/necklace/shoes for a casual look!

Today's Everyday Fashion: New Year's Eve

Guess Kendall gold sequin dress
Guess Kendall gold sequin dress

Here's a follow up to my hunt for a New Year's Eve dress (here). I love wearing something sparkly on NYE, and I was excited to notice a new trend this year - a swishy skirt on sequin dresses. I've never been a fan of a stretchy fabric over my bum, so the idea that you can have your sparkle without the tight skirt made me very happy! I found this dress at Macy's and the slightly pink gold sequins are gorgeous. I have to admit though, I'm not sure if this style says "ice skating costume." As much as I love the loose skirt, it may not be as flattering as I thought it'd be. I'll be shopping the post-Christmas sales, and I'm considering wearing last year's dress again (below)!

White tunic, camel coat, gray leggings, cognac boots

A friend recently asked me how she could get the best deal on some Michael Kors boots for a Christmas present. Since Michael Kors is a brand that’s sold at many different stores, I thought it would be hard to keep track of when and where they would actually go on sale, right down to the specific sizes/colors she needed.

Enter: Shoptagr! A great way to solve this problem. You simply install the extension on your browser (it takes less than a minute - I’m not tech savvy but I figured it out quickly). Then browse your favorite stores like you usually would, and hit the extension button anytime you find something you like. This box will pop up:

Shoptagr price alert

Fill in the blanks by indicating which size, color and discount level you want to monitor and click "Tag It!." Shoptagr saves it to your account and automatically starts checking the price every couple hours. If the price drops (including relevant coupons), you'll be instantly notified via email.

In less than 5 minutes I had tracked Michael Kors boots from 6 different websites and saved them on a list called “Christmas Boots” (see below). It’s a lot like having a smart universal shopping cart for your comparison shopping, and I could see how this site could save you money by automatically monitoring items from so many stores at once, especially when you combine sales with coupons. You can try out Shoptagr here (it’s totally free).

Shoptagr tags and organizes items you want to sale stalk!

About today’s outfit: all that snow in the inspiration photo is making me cold, but I love the color of her ivory shorts/romper combined with a camel coat and boots. I would love to find an ivory shirtdress someday, but in the meantime I tried it out with my white shirtdress, a camel coat and camel boots; it’s like a winter version of the outfit below (same tunic and leggings). One easy way to make your closet stretch is by taking favorite outfits from the fall and “winterizing” them!

$22 lace dress from Hazel & Olive

I cannot believe this dress is only $22! That was my first thought when I saw it in person. The pricing may say "juniors" but the fabric, fit and overall aesthetic definitely doesn't. It's sophisticated and works with tights and boots for a work party, or dressed up with fancy pumps for NYE or a wedding. I have a feeling it will sell out quickly so I rounded up some more lace options below!

First up is an outfit I threw on the other day. I was not joking about these leopard flats never leaving my feet, and the rest of the outfit is my go-to mix of neutrals - black jeans, navy coat and cognac purse.

Next up is the red leopard shirt I mentioned last week. This was an instant "yes" for me... until I got it home and put it together with cobalt bottoms like I was envisioning. Now I'm not so sure I love it. It's a beautiful print though, just maybe not for me, or maybe with different bottoms!

Black midi, black leather jacket, leopard flats

I loved wearing the summer version of this outfit. So thank you Jessica Alba for an idea on how to wear this dress in cooler weather! These leopard flats never seem to leave my feet lately (the first time I posted with them, I reported that they weren't super comfy, but they just needed to be broken in), and my favorite leather jacket hasn't gotten much wear lately, so I'm excited for an outfit that will give me an opportunity to wear both!

I've had this inspiration photo saved for ages so when I realized I had all the items I needed to re-create it, I was excited. My belt looked better over the sweater than under (it's a bit too big to wear under), but overall the final look is very similar. I also shared two other ways I've worn this dress so far - you've got preppy, boho and rocker - all from the same, simple navy dress. Gray blazer, tee, olive pants, python shoes
Gray Banana blazer, F21 tee, LOFT olive pants

One of my favorite things about blogging and fashion in general is that I feel like I never stop learning. Without this inspiration photo, I never would've paired these pants with heels and a blazer. I was limiting them to casual flats and warm weather because of their loose fit and linen-type fabric. Not to mention that for this outfit I'd usually wear denim or cropped dress pants - I'd never usually consider a pant this casual. I don't think it photographed as well as it felt in person (might try a slightly different mix of colors next time), but it certainly felt great to try something unexpected!

I got inspired to put this outfit together thanks to J.Crew + two outfits I've worn in the past. At first I thought "sweet, another way to wear this sweater!" and then I had a moment of "is this even 'me' anymore?" I think it's inevitable at times that we outgrow our clothes in a sense of just not being our style anymore. I still like each piece of this outfit, but something about all of it together just didn't seem as fun as it would have a few years ago. Make no mistake though - I'm still into fun/wild prints (just maybe wearing them a different way), see a review of a couple I tried on below. What styles or trends have you completely outgrown over the years?

I saw both of these tops online and loved them, but I was preparing myself to be disappointed in person. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised! Both are nicer quality than what I've seen at Limited lately - the leopard is really vibrant red, and the burgundy one is really thick with nice finishes. I also love the pattern on the pink and navy striped top you can see hanging up, I hope to get it later (note: go a size up on that one!). And both pairs of pants were cute, too.

These dresses also caught my eye online. The blue one is really vibrant but I wasn't loving that you can see my bra lines slightly, and this shape makes me self-conscious. The slight hi-low hem was fun though! As for the gray leopard - I love that one so much. Also higher quality than usual and I'm sale stalking that one as well. Right now everything is 50% off but I'm hoping in the post-holiday sales it will be even cheaper!

Today's Everyday Fashion: Soma PJs Giveaway

I have a confession: I wear old t-shirts and sweats to bed. It’s not cute. I’ve had “get grown up pajamas” on my to-do list for ages, so when Soma reached out about partnering for a review and giveaway, I was down. I'm beyond excited to wear these gorgeous pajamas to bed and Santa can feel free to bring me more Soma PJs this year. Their tagline “Where Beautiful Gifts Begin” is so fitting because pajamas make such a great gift!

Now for my full review. The first and last photos are Embraceable Pajama Separates – you can mix and match pants, shorts, camis and long sleeve shirts. I chose the pink boudoir print and a pink cami with lace trim to go together. The pants have pockets and come in short, regular and long lengths. The cami is super flattering and has lace trim along the bottom.

The second pair of pajamas is a Cool Nights Pajama Set. The breathable knit keeps you cool and dry at night, and you can feel the difference when you touch the fabric. Overall these fabrics are so great in person – really high quality compared to most pajamas I’ve seen that are either heavy flannel, or flimsy fabric. These are the perfect balance of light and airy, but really high quality.

Last but not least is the chemise. I tend to shy away from these because so many are made with fabrics that seem itchy. This one feels so luxurious in person though, it's also high quality. It has two layers but is still pretty sheer (part of the appeal?). I can’t think of anything prettier to wear to bed!

I’m not the only one having pajama fun today though. We're giving away a $60 Soma gift card so you can try it yourself, or give the gift of pajamas this holiday season. Follow instructions in the Rafflecopter box below to enter. Plus get 20% off your entire purchase, free shipping and returns with code 17156 until 12/24 (*full details in comment section). Sweet dreams in your new Soma pajamas!!

This inspiration photo made something old in my closet feel new again. I haven't worn this cape in several years, but the prints are similar and I couldn't wait to try it with a similar black and gray outfit. I like the inspiration coat shape better (and I love the budget-friendly options below), but in cases like this I'm happy to settle for what's already in my closet to save some money, and get good use out of what I already have. We went to a Magic game recently and this is what I wore. Sometimes I'll wear team tees or jerseys to a game, but most of the time I prefer finding creative ways to wear a team's colors with what's already in my closet. Since silver is the Magic's metallic color I wore a silver sequin tank, and put my Magic blue blazer over it. The same could be replicated with lots of team colors - a gold sequin tank with a burgundy blazer, black sequins with a red blazer, etc. What are your favorite ways to wear team colors to games?

Holiday Gift Guide with HSN

It’s something many of us hope to achieve this holiday season: finding that special something that’s precisely what the receiving person wants or needs. That's why I'm excited today to share two gift guides I put together from HSN.com. These are gifts I think just about anyone would love to receive. The first guide is items under $100 (totally necessary because everyone I know is on a tight budget this year) and the second one is for the fashion lover (because it’s so much fun to shop for).

But first we gotta talk about this coat I’m wearing!! It’s Iman for HSN and I'm totally enamored with the fact that it’s convertible. It comes with three pieces (two main parts of the coat, and a faux fur infinity scarf) for a total of four different ways you can wear it. Talk about versatility - you could even take it apart as the weather changes throughout the day. It comes in eight (!) different colors and it’s a great gift idea for anyone with “new coat” on their holiday wish list.

My HSN.com gift guides are below for even more gifting ideas. Which items do you think are the best to give and receive this year?

Navy coat, red dress, plaid scarf
Plaid scarf, red shift dress, cognac boots

This old red shift dress is cute as a button, but I'm limited to how I can wear it. One of the first times I wore it, my statement necklace nicked it so I like to cover that area up. This J.Crew photo was just the inspiration I needed to layer on a plaid scarf and give me a new way to cover it. It may seem silly to have boots with no sleeves, but this is exactly what you see here in Florida during the winter. You don't want to be hot, but you also crave fall and winter type clothes. Navy tights or those thick boot socks that peek out the top (plus a thick navy cardigan) would finish this off nicely for cooler weather!

Today's post is about one of my favorite fashion things: dresses under $100. They make getting dressed so darn easy - you just throw one on and you're instantly put together. And under $100? That's totally speaking my language. Go here to see my full guide of Macy's dresses under $100 that I put together for ShopStyle. PLUS get 25% off with code ShopStyleFF on dresses and more at Macy's, ends Dec. 8th.

Both of these dresses are under $100 ($75 with the code). First up is this colorful Betsey Johnson. I was just lamenting my search for dresses with long sleeves and structure last week and this dress has exactly that! Plus, what a fun print. It's a blend of professional, yet out of the box. It would be perfect for fashion events but I gotta admit, I'm feeling a bit shy about wearing it. Is it "too much"?

Next up is a navy Vince Camuto that is so sleek and sophisticated, and yet so incredibly comfortable. I love the look of this dress the most, but wish it had thicker material like the Betsey Johnson. It's gorgeous though and it would look great with black boots and tights for colder weather.

Banana silver sequin top with Limited blush pink skirt

This time of year I have to resist buying every holiday outfit I see! I love holiday fashion: everything from festive red, to sequins, embellishments, and lace. Last year I couldn't resist the red skirt/black lace outfit (below), and this year I picked up today's outfit - a silver sequin top and blush skirt. I didn't originally intend on wearing these two items together, but once I got them home they were a great match. I don't love these shoes with it (best option in my closet but not a huge fan), and in colder weather I would layer a wool blazer or heavy cardigan under the coat, and add tights.
