$150 White Plum Giveaway

I’m so excited to share a new boutique with you today! White Plum is an online destination with a huge selection of trendy, unique and affordable clothes. I had a blast trying on a bunch of outfits and did not want to send any of it back (clothes pictured are not my own). Two lucky readers will join in the fun and win gift cards to White Plum - $50 gift card for second place, and $150 grand prize! Visit the Rafflecopter box below to enter, and check out my full review of each look! White Plum is also offering a 20% discount code to all of you, use JSEVERYDAY20!

Top  /  Shorts  /  Necklace

This outfit just might be my favorite. I love how the scalloping detail on the top and shorts mirror one another, and you can’t beat an elastic waistband on shorts for comfort. The necklace is gorgeous, too!

TunicBracelet

Another favorite of mine. This tunic was too short on me as a dress (I’m 5’7”) but would work well as a swim cover-up, or with shorts or jeans as shown. The turquoise bracelet brings out the turquoise in the top – totally my boho style!

Top  /  Pants

These pants are so fun and my fiancé loved them! They fit really well and are SO comfortable. The unique, draped top is also really fun and would pair well with just about anything.

TunicBracelet

This gorgeous embroidered tunic is so versatile! It can be worn on its own as a dress or swim cover up (it’s slightly sheer so appropriate undergarments are recommended). Or wear it with jeans and turquoise accessories.

Top  /  Skirt  /  Bracelet

I die for the print on this skirt. It’s fun and trendy, but the length paired with a modest shirt make this outfit work for just about any occasion – teaching, church, errands, you name it!

This post is brought to you by White Plum. All photos, editorial decisions and opinions are my own. Two winners will be randomly selected for the giveaway on 6/26, and contacted via email. Thanks for entering!!

Today's Everyday Fashion: The Mix

Turquoise top and cobalt pencil skirt
Turquoise top and cobalt skirt with woven belt

What I love about today's inspiration: it's mixing two things that are normally on opposite sides of my closet. The woven belt is for casual, bohemian days.  The top and skirt are dressy, feminine pieces. Together, they make an unexpected combination that I'm loving. Below are even more boho accessories that would work with the dressy pieces in your closet. Would you try it?

Leather jacket with polka dot skirt
Leather jacket with polka dot skirt

Oh hey Kourtney Kardashian, I like your outfit. Pleated polka dots, leather jacket, cute sunglasses - I mean, what's not to love? I prefer her skirt but I gave it a try with my own from a couple years ago. I'm not sold on the bright blue on my shoes with this outfit but I like it from the front, so passersby to my side and behind: my apologies. Also, thank you Florida rainstorms for cooling things down enough to photograph a leather jacket in June. Would you wear Kourtney's outfit?

Striped top with pink jeans

Am I feeling better since yesterday's post? Not completely, although I really appreciate the encouragement, quotes and humor that many of you took the time to respond with. There's something powerful about any shared experience, just take me and Diane Kruger: outfit twinsies. (Kind of?) I tried my version with hot pink shoes and it was not cute, so I switched to nude shoes and a hot pink clutch instead. Would you wear today's combo?

Today's Everyday Fashion: Life

I'm having that kind of week where everything feels ridiculously hard. Like I'm carrying a ton of bricks everywhere I go. Almost 2 months with no real residence, moving twice in less than 2 months, no running water for 2 days, endless bad news about house hunting, to name a few. When it came time to take pictures yesterday... I wasn't feeling it. It's never easy an feat (that part of blogging is uncomfortable for me), but yesterday was a new level. So I forced myself to dance. What else can you do on a week like this?

Clearly... I need some practice.

Clearly... I need some practice.

In between my pity parties this week, I am reminding myself that nothing worth doing is easy. No relationship, job, or act of service. I look back and wonder sometimes how I had the motivation to blog seven days a week for a year straight, with absolutely no guarantee that it would "work." But I've found that even when it does "work," it does not get easier! (Grrr.) When you reach the next level and someone hands you an opportunity (like writing a book) it still takes an incredible amount of hard work, before there's any guarantee that it will happen. "Nothing worth doing is easy," but more importantly: growing through every conflict, risk, energy drainer, annoyance and fear ultimately builds something good. Obstacles are the way to get better. So excuse me while I mourn a not-easy week with a dance and a pout... but I will be back on that horse tomorrow. There's tons of hard work with zero guarantees up ahead.

Today's Everyday Fashion: Crop Tops

Neon top and Target tribal skirt
Neon orange top and Target printed skirt

I might be burnt out on tribal/ikat prints. I didn't realize how much I was wearing them lately until I put these blog posts together the last few days! One thing that's "new" about today's post is the shape of this top. Crop tops are everywhere lately and while I don't think I'd be comfortable in a something that shows my stomach, I do like that this top has a similar shape and feel. The color is what ultimately sold me though - neon has always been a favorite!

Today's Everyday Fashion: Pencil Skirts

Tribal top with purple pencil skirt

If I could, I'd have pencil skirts in every color of the rainbow. I've managed to build a small "collection" over the years - but this particular purple color has proved to be one of the most versatile. I've paired it with many colors and prints, but never this tribal top. Always a welcome moment when you realize you can pair two old items for the first time in your closet! What color pencil skirt would you choose from the rainbow below?

Today's Everyday Fashion: Printed Shorts

Red and purple tribal shorts

I bought these printed shorts and several other pairs two summers ago. I usually tire of printed pieces in my closet quickly, but I'm loving them just as much if not more than I did when I bought them. I'm thinking about even more prints this summer - esp. the top row below. Printed shorts: yea or nay in your book?

Today's Everyday Fashion: Watercolor

Forever 21 watercolor swim coverup
Forever 21 watercolor swim coverup

Saturdays are made for relaxing. A couple weeks ago more than 30 of us headed to the beach for a volleyball tournament, and yesterday we celebrated a birthday at a local pool (where I snapped these pics). I almost always wear retired sundresses as swim coverups, but the minute I spotted this dress at Forever 21 for less than $18, I knew I had to have it. I love the rainbow watercolor print and the loose fit is ideal for lounging at the pool. Shop similar patterns under $100 below; would you wear watercolor prints?

I don't usually have great luck bargain hunting at J. Crew but scoring these mint shorts for only $25 certainly proved me wrong! (No coupon, that was the in-store price.) I've been wanting to pair this pink gingham top with mint for awhile now but my mint jeans and mint cardigan never looked quite right. These two, however, are a match made in heaven!

I wore this to shop for wedding dresses with friends and family this week. I lost track of time and had 5 minutes to get dressed. Today's Everyday Fashion: The Sheath

This is my go-to look for a long day of meetings and errands in hot, sunny Florida. Sheath dresses in a structured cotton like this are comfy, but also provide a bit of professionalism so I'll feel comfortable no matter who I'm meeting or run into. A sandal with a slight wedge is casual by nature, but nice enough to be paired with a sheath dress. And of course, the statement necklace dresses it up a notch, too. More sandal options for sheath dresses below!

Flared jeans with embroidered top

Right now every fit of denim is "in style" - flared, skinny, bootcut, you name it. It's a great time to pull out those flared jeans out of the back of your drawer! I was inspired to pair mine with a bohemian vibe, which is personally my favorite kind of vibe. I could live in this and the shopping picks below 24/7. What jean fit are you wearing most often?

Also - I took a few months off from shopping and now shopping fever is hitting me hard. I decided to get organized and make this wish list above. I started by looking through old blog posts and picking my favorite items featured. I ordered a couple items now, waiting for sales on some, while others I may not wind up ordering at all (my budget is not big enough for all of it). Having a list helps set priorities and narrow things down though. For example, if I spot something while shopping in person, then I can reference this list to see which option would be better. And it will help me keep track of basic categories to look for like dresses, florals, a mint purse, etc. Not something I always do but thought I'd pass along the idea for getting organized! It feels similar to creating an inspiration board, but things I can actually buy.
